Kayti Bjorklund-Strandlund and Ry Bostrom are the co-founders of The Repurposed Educator and key leaders at DW Companies, LLC, an excavating and earth-moving company based in Cambridge, MN. Kayti, who co-founded DW Companies with her husband, Steve Jr., in 2020, manages HR Operations and is committed to "doing dirt work better" by challenging traditional and toxic construction culture. With 14 years in education, professional development, and cognitive coaching—paired with a deep-rooted connection to her family’s aggregate business—she brings a unique perspective to industry transformation. Ry, an integral team member at DW Companies, played a pivotal role in shaping the company's four cultural pillars and, alongside Kayti, presented on their impact at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023. With a strong background in special education and school counseling, Ry applies her expertise in professional development to foster innovation in workplace culture. In 2024, the Repurposed Educator team launched Culture Academy, offering frameworks, curricula, and strategies to help businesses—especially in the trades and construction—build positive, people-first cultures. Their team is also actively working with manufacturing companies through the YST grant, helping bridge education and industry by creating meaningful workforce development opportunities for students and business owners alike.
