Spectralytics – Impacting Lives Daily
At the Intersection of High-Tech and MedTech
Spectralytics has been a pioneer in laser technology for the medical device space for over twenty years, paving the way for current industry standards. We provide contract laser processing and assembly services to medical device manufacturers. Our laser technology can make small, intricate parts to critical tolerances and work with a range of materials including metal, plastic, and composites. Spectralytics has two facilities in Dassel, Minnesota with a range of manufacturing environments including multiple cleanrooms and dedicated development space, which will be further enhanced by a buildout expansion to be completed in early 2022.
Founded in 1990 in Edina, Minnesota, Spectralytics began business with just two people and two lasers. Our first process was lasering pressure sensors in a vacuum vessel for Honeywell. Acquiring a small CO2 laser shop then led us to cutting sheet metal and other materials. From the beginning Spectralytics has invested in leading-edge technologies, and the training to master them.
In 1991, around the time the medical industry realized the potential of our technology Spectralytics transitioned to performing laser processing for the medical device industry with a mission to contribute to the production of life-saving medical products.
Spectralytics was acquired by Cretex Companies in 2012. Cretex, headquartered in Elk River, Minnesota, has been privately owned by the same family for over 100 years. Under the Cretex Medical brand, the company’s subsidiaries Spectralytics, Meier, JunoPacific, rms Company, rms Surgical, and QTS provide contract manufacturing and engineering services to medical device manufacturers. The businesses share a common set of values, a common corporate structure, and a pervasive focus on quality, customer service and responsiveness. Cretex Medical will open a new 245,000 sq ft facility in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in 2022.
