Achieving the ISO 9001 standard is not about establishing a set of procedures that are complicated and difficult to manage. The aim is to provide a workable management system that is suitable for your organization. With the right support and the knowledge of your employees\, you will end up with a system that will improve all areas of your organization.\n\n\n\nImplementing an effective and robust ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) will help you to focus on the important areas of your business and improve efficiency. The management processes that are established throughout your business will provide a sound foundation\, leading to increased productivity and profit. This in turn will improve your customer acquisition and retention.\n\n\n\nSome of the main benefits of ISO 9001 certification include:\n\n\n Suitable for both small and large organizations\n Better internal management\n Less wastage\n Increase in efficiency\, productivity and profit\n Improved customer retention and acquisition\n Consistent outcomes\, measured and monitored\n Globally recognized standard\n Compatible with other ISO standards\n\n\n\nA valid ISO 9001 certificate will be a prerequisite for some of your customers and a "nice to have" for others\, when they are considering suppliers. It gives your customers confidence that you are working to standards and procedures that will provide them with a high standard of customer service.\n\n \nCase Study: \n\nSmall business owner Wade Karnes worked with Advanced Minnesota to achieve ISO certification at Zakobe\, his Bovey-based business. Zakobe specializes in metal stamping\, manufacturing and machining metal fabricated parts for a wide array of industries including fishing\, cycling\, farm equipment\, battery\, medical\, military\, electronics\, radiator and computer hardware. Zakobe achieved ISO certification in September 2020. ISO certification ensures that Zakobe's manufacturing processes have all of the quality assurance\, safety and efficiency requirements that are standard within an industry. Karnes indicated that obtaining ISO certification has "opened opportunities not previously available to his company". \n\n\n\nPresenter: Heath Boe\, Adjunct Instructor at Advanced Minnesota\n\nHeath specializes in Lean Six Sigma\, ISO Certification\, Health & Safety\, and customized Industrial Training.\n\nHeath is an engineer by schooling with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University and a master's degree in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. \n\nHe is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
